2003  Legislative Highlights

House Bill 935- Budget Reconciliation & Finance Act requires verification through the comptroller’s Office that all taxes and unemployment insurance contributions have been paid before specified business and health occupations licenses and permits may be renewed.

Beginning July 1, 2003 certain state agencies: the Comptroller of Maryland, Department of Labor and Licensing & Regulations; Motor Vehicle Administration, Department of Natural Resources, Department of the Environment and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene must verify that an applicant for renewal of a license has paid, or satisfactorily arranged for the payment of state taxes before the state license is renewed.  If you hold a license issued by one of these agencies, you should file any necessary tax returns and pay any taxes due.  Any delay in paying the delinquent account, might delay the issuance of your renewed license.
